How to Crochet the Paris Stitch - Video Tutorial
If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for beautiful new stitches to use in your blankets, scarves, and cosy makes. Well, let me introduce you to a new favourite of mine – the Paris Stitch.
This stitch is soft, slightly lacy, and works up into the kind of fabric that feels just as lovely as it looks. And the best bit? It’s a super simple one-row repeat. Yes, really!
Whether you’re a confident beginner or just want something relaxing to hook up in front of the telly, this stitch is a great one to have in your collection. Are you ready to learn how to crochet the Paris stitch?
Why I Love the Paris Stitch
I’m always drawn to stitches that have a bit of texture and detail without being fiddly or complicated. The Paris Stitch has a soft, open look that’s perfect for spring and summer projects, and it’s easy to get into the rhythm once you’ve got the repeat down.
It’s the kind of stitch that looks impressive but feels effortless to work on—ideal for blankets, shawls, or even scarves with a lovely drape.

Yarn and Hook I Used
For the tutorial, I used:
- Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze Prints (DK weight)
- A 5mm crochet hook
This yarn comes in loads of gorgeous variegated colours, and it really suits the light, airy look of the stitch. I like to go up a hook size for blankets and scarves to make the fabric even softer and more drapey—but use whatever works for you.
Perfect Projects for the Paris Stitch
This stitch is so versatile. You could use it for:
- Lightweight baby blankets
- Throws or lapghans
- Shawls and scarves
- Lacy summer wraps
- Cushion covers or decorative panels
It’s also a great stitch to add to your repertoire when you want something calming to work on.
