2019 Temperature Blanket Free Pattern & Crochet Along - Winter Update



Hello everyone.  How are you all getting on with your temperature blankets?  Mine is coming along nicely and as Winter is now over (hopefully) I thought I would post an update and a few pictures.  If this is your first time to my blog you can find the free pattern linked below and don't think it's too late to join in, you can start a temperature blanket at any time if year.

2019 Temperature Blanket Free Pattern



My temperature blanket started off as just a concept and some yarn pegs to help me choose my pallet...


The beginning of the year was cold but never reached the kind of temperatures we had last year so some of my colours have not been used.


There is nothing better thank a cup of tea and a little crochet in the mornings, I try to do my row each morning when I wake up.


Spring seems to have come early this year as temperatures have been unusually high.  Who would've thought we could have t-shirt weather in February.


Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year will bring...

    I've been recording the daily temperatures, but haven't started yet. I'm not sure about making a large blanket. I'm thinking maybe a long temperature scarf perhaps. I'll keep recording the temperatures until I decide what I want to do. Your looks gorgeous, especially with the sunny yellow so early in with the warm February weather Best, Jane :)

    How many stitches per row and what stitch did you use? I want to make one, but 365 rows is confusing to me.

    I found a website where I could pull up the temps of the year I was born. I’ve picked out my colors and looking forward to starting. At least if I get in a real “crocheting mood” I don’t have to wait until I get temps for the days. I already have them!

    I'm so excited to make my first temperature blanket. Just treated myself to the yarn, and now waiting on delivery. It'll be easy to do after day shifts at work or before I go to a night shift, eeeekkkkkkkkk 😊 🌈 🌡️ looking forward to playing catch up this week while on annual leave

Hello everyone, it's time for part 2 of our mini Mother's Day pattern series and this week we have the mitts to match the boot cuffs we made in part 1.  It's another granny square design (you know how I love granny squares) and they are quick and easy to make. The mitts will fit an average adults hands but can be adjusted for bigger or smaller hands by going up or down a hook size.  You could even use less rounds for your squares to make them the right size for a child.  The pattern is easily adjustable. Temperature Blankets - A guide to making them & free crochet pattern...

Inspired by all the amazing photos on Instagram and Pinterest, I had wanted to make a temperature blanket for some time.  So I thought I would share my blanket progress with you, including lots of tips and tricks.  If you would like to make one too, this is how you do it.   The idea is simple.  Every day, use the local weather stations highest temperature of that day, to choose your crochet colours.  This will result in a gorgeous blanket by the end of the year.  You just allocate which colours you will use for a range of temperatures and crochet 1 row each day corresponding to that days temperature.  I used Stylecraft Special DK for my blanket, but you can use any yarn you like.  Depending on where you live you may need to adjust how many colours and what temperatures you will need...
