Audiobooks: My Summer Favourite

One of my absolute favourite ways to spend time crocheting outdoors is listening to audiobooks. I find it so relaxing to combine my love of storytelling with my crocheting. I'm currently engrossed in Terry Brooks' Running with the Demon, which is fantastic for diving into an adventurous world. As a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi, audiobooks are perfect for immersing myself in other realms while my hands are busy.

When the weather isn't so good, or I simply fancy a cosy evening in, my streaming services become my best friends. There’s something special about watching a TV show that feels like comfort food while you crochet.




Shows I Love to Watch While Crocheting

One of my favourites is Gilmore Girls. I just watched through all of this with my son, and even though he protested at first about watching a "girly" show, he actually loved it. 

I also adore a good period drama, so Downton Abbey is a firm favourite. If you love the grand settings, intricate plots, and fascinating historical details of Downton, you might also enjoy:

  • The Crown – Delve into the lives of the British Royal Family.

  • Victoria – Follow the early life and reign of Queen Victoria.

Creating Your Perfect Crochet Session

Whether you're indoors or out, setting the stage for a great crochet session is simple:

  • Find a comfy spot with good lighting – natural or artificial.

  • Bring a portable speaker or headphones for your podcasts, audiobooks, or music, or settle in front of your TV.

  • Keep your yarn and hook in a small basket or tote for easy access.

  • Grab your favourite snacks & drinks – I love a nice cup of tea and maybe a biscuit (cookie), or occasionally a nice glass of red wine.

Granny Square Fingerless Mitts - Mini Mother's Day series part 2

Hello everyone, it's time for part 2 of our mini Mother's Day pattern series and this week we have the mitts to match the boot cuffs we made in part 1.  It's another granny square design (you know how I love granny squares) and they are quick and easy to make. The mitts will fit an average adults hands but can be adjusted for bigger or smaller hands by going up or down a hook size.  You could even use less rounds for your squares to make them the right size for a child.  The pattern is easily adjustable. For those of you who know me well, you will know that making blankets is my most favourite thing and adding the border to a finished blanket is the best part of blanket making.  Don't get me wrong I love the whole process.  Choosing the design, colours, type of yarn, spending time all snuggly and warm with a growing blanket on your lap is pure bliss to me, but those final few rounds that add the finishing touch to your masterpiece, is just the cherry on the cake.  I love that feeling of completion  and achievement you get when you finish a blanket.
