Why I Love This Baby Blanket
You know I always come back to baby blanket crochet patterns. I love the idea of someone's little one all snuggled up in one of my designs. They bring so much joy and are always a pleasure to make.
I like to keep my patterns simple and accessible for all levels but still beautiful to look at and this baby blanket pattern is so much fun to work up.
The pattern uses one of those crochet stitches that gives such a beautiful texture, and the colour changes keep things interesting as you go. It’s one of those patterns where you can just settle in and enjoy each row without overthinking it.
And the pom pom edging adds the cutest finishing touch.
What Makes the Camber Sands Blanket Special
This crochet baby blanket pattern is all about texture and colour working together. The beautiful beachy tones work really well together but you could just as easily crochet this in any colours that you love.
The herringbone double crochet stitch creates a soft, slightly woven look that gives the fabric depth, while the stripes bring in a gentle contrast inspired by sand, sea, and shoreline tones.
The almost woven look of the stitches may look complicated but it is actually very simple to master.

What Inspired This Design
This striped crochet baby blanket was inspired by the many trips we took to Camber Sands when my son was little.
The wide sandy beach stretches for miles, especially when the tide is out, and the soft sand dunes and coastal colours naturally influenced this design.
The result is a modern crochet baby blanket that feels soft, cosy, and perfect for everyday use. Crochet it in cotton yarn and you will have the perfect beach blanket.
Choosing Your Colour Palette
For this design, I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in Champagne White, Sea Foam, Washed Teal, and Soft Fudge.
These shades work beautifully together for a soft coastal feel, but you can easily customise this.
Try pastels for a classic baby blanket, neutrals for a modern home look, or brighter shades for something more playful.

Is This Pattern Beginner Friendly?
This is a confident beginner crochet pattern.
If you’re comfortable with basic stitches and ready to try something new, you’ll be absolutely fine.
The herringbone crochet stitch might feel slightly different at first, but it becomes very natural after a few rows.
The pom pom edging may be a little more challenging but the video tutorial is there to guide you step by step.
