Trying a new cotton yarn for crochet is one of my favourite things, especially when I have specific projects in mind and cotton yarn always seems more photogenic than acrylic yarns. I bought Yarn and Colors Epic specifically for some summer crochet projects, and I was really excited to start working with it. It’s a popular cotton yarn for crochet, especially for warm weather makes, so I couldn’t wait to see how it hooked up.

Bright Colours – A Standout Feature
One of the reasons I chose Yarn and Colors Epic for my summer crochet projects was the colour range.
There are so many shades available, from soft pastels to bright, bold colours, I love the chalkiness of the pastel colours. If you enjoy colourful crochet, this yarn is perfect for experimenting with different combinations and creating fresh, summery designs.
How It Feels to Work With
When working with any 100% cotton yarn, texture is always something to think about.
Here’s how Yarn and Colors Epic feels:
- Very soft
- Smooth texture
- Good stitch definition
- Not too splitty
- Holds its shape well
- Mat finish
I found it very soft to the touch making it perfect for garments. It doesn’t have much stretch, which is typical for cotton. I made a summer bag (pictured above), that is currently in testing and the pattern will be available soon.
The bag will be part of a summer pattern collection and also included will be these cute sun hats also crocheted in Epic cotton. The yarn was held double for this project and this can be a little tiring on your hands, but the hats work up really fast.

This cotton yarn for crochet projects works best when you need structure and durability.
It’s ideal for:
Because it’s a 100% cotton yarn for crochet, it’s breathable, durable, and holds its shape well, making it ideal for homewares and summer projects. I love how cotton yarn always feels more luxurious than acrylic but doesn't break the bank.
Is Yarn and Colors Epic Good Value for Money?
