Is It Beginner Friendly?

Yes, this is a beginner-friendly crochet scrunchie pattern.

If you’re comfortable with basic stitches, you’ll find this pretty straightforward. It’s a great project if you’re just starting out or want something simple between bigger makes. It might feel a bit awkward crocheting around the hair tie at first but you will get the hang of it in no time at all.

About the Yarn

The Prairie Scrunchies pattern is made using Yarnsmiths Cotton Aran, a 100% cotton aran weight yarn. Each 50g ball contains 80m (87 yards), providing excellent stitch definition and a soft texture that is ideal for this type of project.

The cotton feels gentle on the skin while remaining durable, making it perfect for everyday use. The pattern uses two colours and requires a less than 50g of yarn in total; making this an ideal stashbusting project.
