2020 Charity Stash Bash - Projects to make for your favourite charities, new pattern each month...

Hello friends, I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the year.  Our January stash busting crochet along has almost finished and I still have such a lot of yarn left just waiting to be used.  So I thought why not have another one? This time the stash busting will go on throughout the year, so we can really make a dent in that yarn pile.  One of my goals for this year is to make items to donate, so let's kill two birds with one stone and have a big old Charity Stash Bash. 2020 Charity Stash Bash! Infinity Scarf - Our Happy CAL Place, weekly crochet along group on Ravelry...

Hello everyone, this week at Our Happy CAL Place we have been making this Infinity Scarf , pattern by Brenda Grobler.  If you like a good crochet along then be sure to check this group out.  They feature both weekly and monthly crochet alongs and there is always something for everyone. This was a nice quick and easy project, the pattern was well laid out and easy to understand.  I made a few alterations, making my scarf half the length stated in the pattern.  I will be donating this scarf to our local church to use in the shoe box appeal and I didn't want it to take up the whole box.  The original pattern has the scarf wrapping around twice.  I also added a twist before sewing mine together. Here is my interpretation of Brenda Grobler's  Infinity Scarf The design uses the Iris stitch pattern which I love... My version wraps around the neck once with a twist in the front. I used Stylecraft Jeanie yarn with a 5mm hook, it's my first time

Make a blanket for a rescue cat - Free crochet patterns selected by Lullaby Lodge...

My local Cat & Dog shelter is always looking for blankets for their rescue animals, so I thought a great way to use up some stash, that might not otherwise get used, would be to make some blankets for them.  We have a Battersea Cats and Dogs home in Windsor where I live and they generally prefer knitted blankets to crochet ones, especially for kittens as they can easily get their paws stuck in the holes that crochet blankets often have.  So I have hunted down some patterns that I think will be suitable for cats (or dogs).  The patterns I have chosen are not all specifically designed for cats but all have very little or no holes and can all be made with stash yarn (woohoo use up that stash!). Blankets for Rescue Cats This first blanket is actually designed as a baby blanket, but as it creates a close knit fabric, would make a great blanket for cats.  The pattern is by Sunset Knots.
