Color Block Washcloth - CAL Central crochet along group...

Image
Hello friends, it's week four of the CAL Central Washcloth crochet along and this week we have another colour block pattern.  This week's washcloth is designed by Carolyn from The Purple Poncho and features a two colour, colour block design with a pretty cluster stitch. I really enjoyed this week's design.  It was so quick and easy to make, I just had to make two.  The pattern is very easy to follow and produces these visually stunning colour block cloths.  You can find the free pattern here... I used Scheepjes Cahlista cotton Aran yarn with a 5mm hook.  I chained 30 and worked one row less on each end to keep the cloth the correct size, of seven inches square.   I always like to add a pretty label to my cloths so they are ready to gift. You can purchase a printable pdf for these labels in my Etsy Store , along with a selection of other labels. Pin it for later... Why not head over to the very busy Facebook page and see what e

Color Block Washcloth - CAL central crochet along group...

Hi everyone I hope you are all doing well.  It is week 3 of the CAL Central washcloth crochet along.  This week we have the fantastic Color Block Washcloth , design by Mary Beth Temple.  I was a little hesitant to join in with this one as I have a real aversion to intarsia colour work.  I have tried intarsia with knitting a few times and have always found it rather frustrating.  Crochet intarsia however, is so much easier and I am glad I gave it a go. The pattern comes with a colour chart and to be honest I didn't even read the written pattern as I find charts easier to follow.  The pattern calls for DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook, again this week I chose to use aran weight instead.  I went with a 4mm hook and my finished size was actually slightly smaller than the pattern stated, at 7 and a half inches. I used Scheepjes Cahlista yarn again, as it comes in so many gorgeous colours and added a gift label. If you would like to use these labels for your own projects they are

Sunset Washcloth - CAL Central crochet along group on Ravelry...

Hello friends!  It's the second week of the CAL Central Washcloth Crochet Along and this week we have another pretty washcloth to make.  If you remember the CAL started last week with the gorgeous Rosettes and Ridges Washcloth, which you can read about here .  This week's addition is another super pretty pattern, this time designed by Devine Debris .  You can find the Sunset Washcloth pattern here and while you are at it why not check out the Ravelry group thread . The pattern calls for DK cotton yarn (which I don't have much of in my stash), so I used Aran weight for mine.  I really like Scheepjes Cahlista yarn, it comes in so many gorgeously, yummy colours.  Here is my version of the Sunset Washcloth . The pattern is very easy to understand and features repeating rows of single crochet and single crochet with spike stitches, with interlocking colours.  The finished pattern makes a very pretty washcloth.  You could of course use it for doing the dishes if you

Rosettes & Ridges Washcloth - CAL Central, crochet along group on Ravelry...

Image
Hello everyone!  This week I joined a new CAL group on Ravelry.  They are having a washcloth crochet along with a new pattern each week to make.  You know how I love quick and easy projects, so I thought why not join in the fun.  The group is CAL Central and you can find the washcloth thread here .  The first pattern is a really pretty cloth, Rosettes & Ridges designed by Marie Segares. I would say the pattern is for an intermediate crocheter, it uses bobble stitches and crocheting into back loops.  The pattern features a mitred design and has a lovely textural look.  I think this would also make a great dishcloth. The pattern calls for DK yarn, although I chose to make mine in Aran with a 5mm hook.  I used Drops Paris in colours Light Purple and White and Scheepjes Cahlista in Crystalline.  I worked a few rows less than the pattern called for to get the correct size.  The first few rows were a bit fiddly but the repeats are easy to remember and I enjoyed making it.

Starfish Dishcloths - Free pattern & crochet along - Our Happy CAL Place Ravelry Group

Image
This week at Our Happy CAL Place , we have been making these cute,  Starfish Dishcloths .  I don't know if you remember, but I have featured this pattern before, in a dishcloth pattern round up ; so I was super excited to try this one out.  The pattern is by Mary Ann Frits and is available at Red Heart Yarns. I found the pattern a bit tricky to follow.  Some of the instructions were a little ambiguous and others seemed to be missed out altogether.  The photos are very clear though and I was able to figure it out from checking them; however,  I do think a newbie crocheter might have problems, but don't let this put you off , as there is a great video on Youtube  that is really easy to follow. I love the way my dishcloth turned out, despite the tricky start and I will be making more of these for sure.  Why not head on over to the Ravelry group and check out the other members dishcloths, they all turned out so pretty; or you could join us and take part in next week
