Starfish Dishcloths - Free pattern & crochet along - Our Happy CAL Place Ravelry Group

This week at Our Happy CAL Place , we have been making these cute, Starfish Dishcloths.  I don't know if you remember, but I have featured this pattern before, in a dishcloth pattern round up; so I was super excited to try this one out.  The pattern is by Mary Ann Frits and is available at Red Heart Yarns.

I found the pattern a bit tricky to follow.  Some of the instructions were a little ambiguous and others seemed to be missed out altogether.  The photos are very clear though and I was able to figure it out from checking them; however,  I do think a newbie crocheter might have problems, but don't let this put you off , as there is a great video on Youtube that is really easy to follow.

I love the way my dishcloth turned out, despite the tricky start and I will be making more of these for sure.  Why not head on over to the Ravelry group and check out the other members dishcloths, they all turned out so pretty; or you could join us and take part in next week's crochet along.

Go ahead and pin it for later...

I will be back again soon with free patterns, tutorials and more; so don't forget to follow (in the sidebar) and subscribe...

Have a great day!

Crochet Tea Party - Free patterns selected by Lullaby Lodge...

When I was a little girl, I loved having tea parties with my dolls and teddys.  I had a tiny brown tea set, which made me feel ever so grown up, as it was made from real china.  I loved it and played with it frequently.  These days we don't always like to give our children anything breakable, so why not make a crochet version, complete with all sorts of yummy goodies fit for a princess.  I have found some fantastic free patterns that will ensure your little one has the perfect tea party.

Crochet Tea Party

The first thing you need is a tea set and this one comes complete with a teapot, and cups and saucers.  The pattern is available at Red Heart.

Tea & Cookies Party Set

Let's start off our afternoon tea, with a lovely sandwich.  This pattern is by Yummi Gurumi and is available at Craft Foxes.  I just love the detail in the tomatoes and lettuce.

Crochet Amigurumi Sandwich

Your little one will love these replicas of family favourite biscuits.  You can't beat a Jammy Dodger and what tea party would be complete without some Party Rings.  You can find this pattern at Molly Makes.

Cute Biscuits

These donuts by My Sewing Mall look good enough to eat...

Crochet Donuts

We probably should have at least one healthy option at our tea party and these crochet strawberries look too cute for words.  The pattern is by Crafty Marie.

Plush Strawberry

...and finally every tea party needs cupcakes and these kawai ones are just the cutest thing you have ever seen.  The pattern is by Candy Van Sweet and available to download at Ravelry.

Cupcakes With Swirl Frosting

I hope you enjoyed my pattern selections this week.  Which is your favourite?  I can't choose between the cup cakes and the English biscuits.  Who would you make this for?  Let me know in the comments below.  I will see you all again soon and don't forget to follow (in the sidebar) and subscribe for more posts like this.

Solid Triangles - Learn how to crochet them in this simple tutorial by Lullaby Lodge...

Hello lovely people, I have another tutorial for you today.  This week I will be showing you how to make solid triangles.  You might think at first that triangles are not as versatile as squares, but this is not true.  Your triangles may be used for many things.  You can join your motifs together to make blankets and throws.  String a row of them together and you have some pretty bunting.  If you are brave enough you might use them to make a bikini.  I'm sure you can think of many more ideas...

Solid Triangles

Materials

Yarn
Darning needle

Hook

Use a hook recommended on your yarn ball band

Abbreviations / Terms

US terms are used through out (UK terms)
dc - double crochet (treble crochet)
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(s)
sp - space

Other notes: I like to substitute the ch3 at beginning of rounds for a chainless dc, you can do this if you wish or stick with the traditional ch3.  I used cotton aran / worsted yarn from my stash (Drops Paris & Scheepjes Cahlista) to make my triangles with a 5mm (H) hook, but you can use any yarn you like just be sure use a hook size recommended on your yarn ball band.

With chosen yarn and hook, ch4 and join with sl st to form ring.

Round 1 ch3 (counts as dc), 3dc into ring, ch2, [4dc into ring, ch2] twice, join with sl st to top ch3.  (12dc)

Round 2 ch3, dc in next 3 sts, [3dc, ch2, 3dc in corner sp, dc in each dc] twice, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in corner sp, join with sl st to top ch3.  (30dc)

Round 3 ch3, dc in every dc around, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in every corner sp, join with sl st to top ch3.  (48dc)

If you would like to make your triangles bigger simply repeat round 3 until required size.

If you wish to change colours after each round, fasten off at end of round and join new colour with sl st to any ch sp, ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp, dc in every dc and 3dc, ch2, 3dc in every other corner.

Granny Square Cardigan - Our Happy CAL Place, weekly & monthly CAL group on Ravelry...

Hello, it's Saturday again and it's time to share with you what we have been making in Our Happy CAL Place.  This week's pattern was the Lemon Squeezy Cardigan by Potter & Bloom and is actually designed to fit a toddler.  I didn't have anyone at hand to model it for me so I made mine for Teddy.

I had to make quite a few adjustments to make it fit as the pattern is not really designed for the likes of my furry friend.  Instead of the original 8 squares that are called for I went for just 4.  Poor Teddy's tummy was rather too portly for the other squares to fit...

He does look rather pleased with himself and his new outfit.

Why not head over to this week's CAL and check out the other members projects, or join in the fun yourself.
