Craft Fair Idea #4 Cute Note Card Packs - 2019 Craft Fair Series

Hello friends and welcome to another addition of my 2019 craft fair series.  This week I have been making these really cute note card sets.  They are so easy to make using Project Life Cards, some designer paper and a few other crafty bits and pieces.  I have chosen to keep my designs super simple so I can mass produce them for the craft fair.  I just wanted something that will be quick and easy to make for a bargain buy.  I got this idea from one of my favourite Youtubers Lyriclover810, she makes some really beautiful things and has a great craft fair series on her channel.  You should really go check her out and I will link her video at the end...

Project Life Note Card Packs

Materials

Designer series paper

Paper trimmer or scissors

Project Life Cards (or any journaling cards)

Glue (I prefer to use tape runners)

Envelope punch board

Bone folder (optional)

Scoring board (optional) 

Corner rounder (optional)

Using a paper trimmer or scissors cut your single sided designer paper to 8 ½ inches by 4 ¼.

You now want to score this at 4 ¼ inches (this part is optional but can help to stop your paper cracking) you can go ahead and just fold this in half lengthways if you don't have a scoring board.

Use your bone folder to burnish the edges to make them nice and crisp.

For a more professional look go ahead and round your corners with a corner chomper (this is also optional, you can leave them square if you wish).  You now have a base for your card.

Pick a Project Life Card that compliments your chosen designer paper (you can buy these from Amazon I will link them at the end).

Using your prefered glue attach the Project Life Card to your base like so...

You can leave them just like this for a simple note card, or go to town with embellishments...

I added some washi tape and a cute handmade butterfly sticker to this one...

Now we need to cut either some matching or contrasting designer paper for the envelope (or you could just use printer paper for white ones).  You need to cut a square measuring 6 ¾ by 6 ¾.  Now we are going to make our envelope using the envelope punch board.  If you don't have one of these I really recommend getting one, they are so simple to use and so much fun.  You can make so many things with them not just envelopes.  I will have another tutorial coming up soon, showing you how to make cute little paper bow embellishments with your envelope punch board.  Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss this.

First line your paper up with the 3 inch mark, then punch and score, you then turn your paper anti clockwise and line your previous score line up with the little marker that sticks out.  Then punch and score again.  Simply repeat this until you have your envelope template.  Lyriclover810 shows you how to use the punch board in her video.

This is how it should look...

Now simply fold the sides of your envelope inwards and glue to secure, leaving the top open.  Homemade envelopes just look so adorable.

Now rinse and repeat until you have enough for your craft fair.  They really are addictive you won't be able to stop making them...

I have packaged mine in clear cellophane bags with 2 cards and 2 envelopes in each to make cute little note card packs.

Spring Garden Baby Blanket - Free Pattern (Cath Kidston inspired)

The Spring Garden Baby Blanket has been a popular pattern of mine and now you can enjoy this pattern free, here on my blog.  The blanket was inspired by the gorgeous colours Cath Kidston uses and is aimed at an advanced beginner, available in 2 sizes.  The larger size is great for a cot or even a sofa throw.  The smaller size can be used for the car seat, buggy or crib.

Spring Garden Baby Blanket

Materials

Cot [pram] blanket:  Stylecraft Special Aran 1 ball each in shades Lemon, Baby Pink, Fondant, Pomegranate, Pistachio (or Meadow) and 4 [2] balls Cloud and Cream.  You may substitute any other Aran (Worstead) yarn for this project.

Darning needle

Hook

5 mm (H) hook.

Size

Approximately 110 x 110 cm for the cot  and 65 x 65 cm for the pram blanket.

Ability

Advanced beginner

Abbreviations / Terms

Us terms are used throughout (UK terms)

sc - single crochet (double crochet)

dc - double crochet (treble crochet)

tr - treble crochet (double treble crochet)

dc2tog - double crochet 2 together (treble crochet 2 together)

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

sp - space

Notes:  The motifs are worked in rounds begin each round with a ch3 or a chainless dc whichever is your prefered method, unless otherwise stated.  Finish every round by joining with a sl st to the top of the ch3 (or chainless st) from the beginning of the round.  Rounds 4 and 5 are worked in Cream, round 6 is worked in Cloud and for rounds 1-3 choose colours at random from the remaining colours.  Please read the pattern in its entirety before beginning.

Cot Blanket

follow the motif pattern from rounds 1-6.  Make 36

Pram Blanket

Follow the motif pattern work rounds 1-4 and 6 (omit round 5).  Make 16

Granny Flower Motif

Ch 4 and join with sl st to form ring.

Round 1 12dc into ring.

Round 2 2dc into each sp between the st's from previous round.

Round 3 3dc into the sp's between each pair of st's from previous round.

Round 4 Starting in any sp ch4, 2tr, ch2, 3tr in same sp (corner Made), [3dc in next sp] x2, *3tr, ch2, 3tr in next sp, [3dc in next sp] x2* work from *to* 2 more times.

Round 5 In each corner 3dc, ch2, 3dc and along each sp along side 3dc.

Round 6 As round 5 (if you are planning on using the join as you go method to join your squares 

omit this round).

Joining your motifs

Use your preferred method and Cloud yarn to join the squares.  You can sew them together with a darning needle or you can single crochet them together from the back.  If you prefer to use the join as you go method this can be done by omitting round 6 from your motifs and joining with Cloud.  For the cot blanket you will need to join your squares 6 x 6 and for the pram blanket 4 x 4.  I will add some links to Youtube videos with different joining methods at the end.

Border:  With Cloud

Round 1 In each corner 3dc, ch2, 3dc.  Along each side 3dc in each sp.  Where 2 squares meet dc, dc2tog, dc across the join.

Round 2 In each corner 3dc, ch 2, 3dc.  Along each side 3dc in each sp.

Round 3 As round 2.

Round 4 With Cream as round 2.

Round 5 In each corner 9dc.  Along each side sc in 1st sp after corner, [in the next sp 7dc, sc in next sp] repeat to next corner.  Weave in ends.

You will end up with something like this...

Easter Baby Blanket & Bonnet - Free Crochet Pattern

Make this pretty baby blanket in gorgeous spring colours.  This is such a simple pattern and is essentially just a giant granny square and comes with a super cute matching bonnet.  Any new arrival will look adorable wrapped up in it.  The blanket and bonnet only takes a few days to make so would make a great last minute gift for a new mum and uses lots of different colours making it a great stash busting project.

Granny Square Blanket

Materials

Darning needle

DK yarn in assorted colours.  I used yarns from my stash, but if you would like to recreate this I recommend using Stylecraft Special DK in the following colours (in order of use) - 

Wisteria, Sherbet, Citron, Parchment, Spring Green, Cream

Hook

4mm (G) hook

Size

Approx 65 x 65 cm

Abbreviations / Terms

US terms used throughout (UK terms)

sc - single crochet (double crochet)

dc - double crochet (treble crochet)

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

st - stitch

Notes:  Unless otherwise stated, fasten off and change colour each round following colour sequence stated above.  You will also be turning your work after each round, this keeps the corners nice and straight and adds a lovely texture to your blanket.

Foundation round ch4 and join with sl st to form ring.

Round 1 (Right side) ch 3, 2 dc into ring, ch 2, [ 3 dc into the ring, ch 2] 3 times, join with a sl st to the top of starting ch 3 and fasten off.  Turn.

Round 2 (Wrong side) join a new colour in any corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc into same sp, ch 2, 3 dc into same sp (corner formed), [ 3 dc into the next sp, ch 2, 3 dc into same sp] x3, join with a sl st to the top of the chain 3 and fasten off.  Turn.

Round 3  Join a new colour in any corner sp, chain 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, [3 dc in next sp, 3 dc in next sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp] x 3, 3 dc in next sp, join with a sl st to the top of the chain 3 and fasten off.  Turn.

Continue in the same way changing colours each round and working 3dc, ch2, 3dc in each corner and 3dc into each sp, until you have repeated the colour sequence 5 times.  30 rounds in total.

Work a further 2 rounds in the same way, the 1st in Wisteria, the 2nd in Cream.

Round 33 With right side facing and Wisteria, join with sl st to any corner sp.  Ch1, 3sc in same sp, continue with sc in each st around and 3sc in each corner sp.  Fasten off.

Blanket border:  With right side facing and Cream follow tutorial for Cute Bobble Edging.

Easter Bonnet

Using colour sequence to match the blanket follow instructions for Granny Square Bonnet pattern.
